STORE LAMBS - WEDNESDAY 16TH DECEMBER 2020

Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs, Feeding and Breeding Sheep Forward: 2,385 Head (Overall av £71.12) A tidy entry of lambs for the last sale of 2020 and trade every bit as good as we had hoped with feeders still clearly keen to secure lambs for feeding into the hogg season, and a super overall average of £71.12 per head which is very comparable to the previous few sales given the increased proportion of hill lambs and many vendors coming towards the end of this seasons lambs.

Best Continentals and Down x from £90 to £100, those with a bit of frame in the £80s, and longer keep sorts £70-£75. Small end lambs in the £60’s and £50’s.

Mule Wether lambs followed recent rates, a few best end pens in the £80’s, decent sorts in the 70’s and smaller end less.
A large show of Horned Lambs found a very keen enquiry, several stronger pens mid £60’s to mid £70’s, medium types in the £50’s and early £60’s, long term sorts in the £40’s and small end £30’s and less.

The Addingham and District Sheep Breeders Group held their Annual Charity Show & Sale in aid of Manorlands Hospice (Sue Ryder) in Oxenhope, alongside some other donated lambs and items for other local causes, and once the customers of CCM came up trumps by not only donating things for sale, but also standing up ringside and purchasing these items and in some cases donating them again to be resold.

Laura Robinson and Jenny Dolphin who both work on the Skipton Auction Site for Carrs Billington. In a socially distanced show taking place in the pens, they chose a Mule Wether from Chris and Christine Ryder as Champion and receiving the Pearson Farm Supplies Trophy. The lamb sold first to John & Pauline Turner of Draughton for £220 who then redonated the lamb, and it sold in turn to Simon Spensley for £220, then NFU Skipton for £240, Laura Robonson and Jenny Dolphin for Carrs BIllington, £120 James Spensley, £120 Andrew Wright, £120 Geoff Dunn and £110 Andrew Atkinson. Many other customers purchased other lambs and goods on behalf of Manorlands along with cash donations also received, a very big thankyou to all concerned.
