Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs

CCM Auctions conducted their fortnightly sale of store sheep at Skipton on Wednesday where a nice show of lambs were keenly contested and prices showing a rise on the previous sale. Continental and Down cross lambs were especially good to sell with averages for Suffolks and Texels both over £60, and Beltex’s averaging £71.05.
The smart lambs were an animated trade all sale long, tops at £93 from Frankland Farms, £90 Richard and Patsy Hodgson, £85 £84 Chris & Tom Heseltine £80 Trevor & Clive Robinson. Best Texels to £85 from David & Jill Pennock, £77 Robert Fielden. Plenty of stronger end lowland lambs in the mid to late £60’s. Medium and Longer keep also looking sharper to sell now with winter keep slowly coming available.
Hill Bred lambs showing the weather a little more, but best Mule wethers mid to late 50’s topping at £60 for pen of 47 from Gordon Haynes and a solid average of nearly £55 for the 1,790 head of Mule wethers sold. A few pens of Cheviot wethers finding favour, whilst horned wethers were mainly away in the £30’s with more buyers present for a longer keep lamb.
