A considerable amount of Continental and Suffolk Gimmer Lambs were on offer again today despite last fortnights show and sale. Suffolk’s saw some considerable support with many pens between £78 and the top price of £95 for a pen of 26 sold by the Edmondson family of Ulverston with Texel’s peaking at £115 for a tremendous run of clean headed gimmers presented by Anthony Hewetson.

Store lambs in general would see a very similar trade to that of a fortnight ago with yet another average of £58, however today saw a slightly easier trade for Tex x lambs with a high percentage presented being bred from Swaledale’s rather than mules however a healthy number of Texel and Beltex lambs bred from white faced ewes saw an increased trade with a large quantity of buyers looking for better conformed lambs this season.

Mules found a surge in bidders compared with a fortnight previous with no fewer than 14 different buyers for Mule wethers today with a summer strong prices given for well grown lambs with potential for growth, top price of the day came for a pen of 65 at £65.5 and another pen of 60 at £63 heading a section average of £54.79.
