Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs, Feeding Ewes & Breeding Sheep
Forward: 4909 Head, Comprising 4,681 Store Lambs (av £60.79) and 308 Ewes, Rams and Gimmer Lambs.
A very good show of lambs today with trade very similar to last fortnight. More weathered lambs in today’s sale with more long keep lambs too. Strong first cross lambs around the £70 mark with some cracking Beltex lambs selling for £80-£96. Horned lambs were also good to sell, best end making either side of £50 into mid £40s with the next grade down £30-£40. Dalesbred lambs selling well with a top price of £49 from JA Stoney & Son for a pen of tups.
Some very plain feeding ewes in the sale today with Swales in the late teens to mid £20s. Continentals topped at £72 selling to a bigger audience of buyers than previous weeks.
