At the top end of the prices it was the Beltex crosses that saw several three figure prices, with £109 & £103 top price from SJ Robinson, £107 £103 £101 Frankland Farms and £104 Andrew Haggas. 800 Beltex crosses av £83.60.
Texels sold well again, with best gimmer lambs £90 plus, topping £100 from Flash House Farms and EB Webster. Decent running Gimmers in the £80’s, small sorts in the 70’s.
Texel stores were keenly contested, strong end in the £80’s, mediums in the late £70’s and wintering lambs mid £60’s to mid £70’s. 4,150 Texel Lambs averaged £75.05.

Mule and Masham wethers were again a great trade, best pens £74/£77, medium sorts £71/£73 and smaller end £65/£70. 1,750 Mule and Masham Wethers averaged £72.15.

A feature of todays sale was the large entry of horned wethers, many of which were well grown in comparison to other years, and buyers responded to the quality with better end of Swale and Dalesbred Wethers £53-£57, mediums £45-£52, and the smallest end late £30s to mid £40’s.

966 Swaledale and Dalesbred Wethers averaged £51.

A great show of Cheviot wethers were forward today, with prices to £76 for a pen of 65 and £74.50 for a pen of 69, both from K Lister & Son, and 424 Cheviot wethers averaging £71.59.

We are anticipating another large entry of 8,000 plus for the next sale, and like we did from October last year, we will now invite vendors to include feeding ewes in their entries for our Wednesday sales for the rest of the season.
