Forward: 658 Head, Store Lamb av £52.85; Inlamb Ewes av £105.45
A seasonal entry of store sheep met with a very strong trade on the day, best smart continentals to £91, and stronger sorts mid 60’s to mid 70’s. Several lots of nice Lonk Wethers resulted in a breed average of £55 and similar for Mules.
Inlamb Sheep sold well this fortnight with a nice dispersal of Correct Texel Ewes 2shear upwards seeing the best end trade at £110 to £120, and smaller types £100-£105.
At the conclusion of the day we held our Annual Sale of Registered Blue Faced Leicester Females for which there was a sharp trade and a total clearance. Best of the day came for a Gimmer Hogg from Messrs Booth’s Smearcett flock from Feizor near Settle, by the homebred ram G11, known as Ted, and out of another homebred ewe, full sister to a ram sold locally to James Huck of Austwick, she sold quickly via fast bidding from several interested parties ringside to head home to Great Musgrave near Kirkby Stephen with Trevor and Andrew Procter of Villa Farm for £1,100. The Booths sold a 2nd Gimmer Hogg for £750 by the same sire out of a D15 got gimmer shearling to JH&J Ryder, Haverah Park.
Messrs Mason of Oddacres sold three Gimmer Hoggs, the best of which was £300 by his Asby Hall ram out of a Potts ewe. John Stott of Laund Farm had a pen full of inlamb females, 4 of which sold for £300 each.
