New Texel Female Format Proves a Success
Thursday evening saw Skipton Mart host the Northern Area Texel Clubs Winter Sale of Pedigree Females, where Peter Woofs Stainton Flock produced the champion sheep and top price.
Selling at 1000gns was the champion a march born powerful gimmer by Anglezarke Uno sold carrying twins to Stainton AK49 the son of the 30,000gns Knock Yankee to Mr J Simpson, York. Mr Woof followed this at 900gns with his 4th prize gimmer, this time sired by the Knock Yankee ram out of an Uno ewe that goes back to Sportsmans Tremendous and carrying twins at the 15,000gns Auldhouseburn Bolt, it went home with Mr S Richardson, Barnsley. John Green made the long trip out of the Scottish borders to support this new sale date and went home 800gns better off when his Strathbogie Wildboy sired gimmer carrying triplets to the homebred Greenall Batistuta sold into Cumbria with Mr J Fawcett. Jeff Aiken brought out a nice pen of gimmers on behalf of Procters Farm Ltd with the pen leader, a product of Teiglum Youngun, itself a 70,000gns purchase and scanned twins to Strawfrank Alphonso. It sold locally to Jill Perrings, Giggleswick for 750gns.
The sale saw an 86% clearance rate and averages are below.
