There was a new format this year as CCM Auctions held their Annual Sale of BFL Rams & Females at Skipton Mart which was held on Tuesday evening. The sale attracted breeders from a large area, many attracted by the opportunity to purchase stock from the breeders responsible for quality runs of Mule lambs at the Skipton NEMSA sales. 14 sheep achieved 4 figure bids with Joe & Nancy Throup’s Chelker flock taking top price at 4,000gns with a shearling ram by their J1 Asby Hall. The ram took second prize at the Skipton branch progeny show in August and attracted a successful bid from Robin Booth and went home to join their Smearcett flock.
The champion sheep on the night, the 1st prize Ewe Lamb presented by WM Hutchinson & Sons, Kirkby Redgate was by the £18,000 Shafthill K8. This smart lamb sold locally to EW&JR Parkinson at Dunsop Bridge.
