The Tomschoice herd of Jamie & Sarah Cooper of Dacre headed up the prices at the Craven Limousin Day with their Senior Bull ‘Warrenderpark Geronimo’ who was on sale because of the return of his sire Kaprico Eravelle who had been at stud. With his sire scoring in the top 1% of the breed for calving and short gestation, the 2011 born Geronimo met spirited bidding to finally find a new home with Chris Metcalfe of Healaugh for 5,400gns.

Volcano commercial daughter on fire at Northern Limousin Extravaganza An 11-month-old Limousin-sired commercial heifer from Cumbrian breeder Neil Slack outshone her pedigree counterparts to clinch the supreme championship at the 2015 Northern Limousin Extravaganza (NLE) at Skipton Auction Mart. MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 28TH JANUARY 2014

CCM Auctions held their Mid Winter Sale of Blue Faced Leicester Females at Skipton on Wednesday. The Smearsett flock of The Booth Family of Old Hall Farm, Feizor were awarded the champion sheep prize by todays judge, Mr Thomas Walker of Appletreewick. The prize award was won by the first gimmer hogg out of their pen, sired by Gragareth E1 from David Lawson, and out of a ewe family containing a £12,000 ram sold to Marriforth, it found a new home at £500 in Ayrshire with Hugh Mongomerie. The same buyer also snapped up the highest priced sheep on the day, on this occasion from John Mason, Oddacres. A gimmer hogg by his John Park sire it sold for £580. Messrs Booth also made £500 of the third prize ewe, sired by Shafthill C1 and sold carrying triplets to a Mereoak lamb purchased in Hawes last Autumn, it sold to Kevin Wilson of Blubberhouses. Overall there was an 80% clearance rate.

Booths wrap up Skipton BFL females four-timer Skipton Auction Mart’s first registered sheep breed show and sale of 2015, the annual fixture for Blue Faced Leicester females, saw championship honours fall for an unprecedented fourth year in succession to the prolific Smearsett flock of WA&A Booth in North Craven. INLAMB PEDIGREE SHEEP - SATURDAY 13TH DECEMBER 2014

Annual Winter sale of Inlamb Pedigree Texel & Beltex Sheep followed by 2 dispersal sales from John Wood & David Williams. A good entry of sheep today for the Winter sale at Skipton drew a large company of buyers and the Lingfield sale ring was full to capacity at times during the day. There were 55 separate successful purchasers during the sale and some other left empty handed which shows the growing popularity of this sale which is in its 22nd year.

BREEDING SHEEP - SATURDAY 13TH DECEMBER BELTEX PRESS

Stuart Currie’s Beautry pedigree flock in Rathmell secured both championship and top price honours at the Northern Beltex Society’s third winter show and sale of pedigree in-lamb ewes at Skipton Auction Mart. (Sat, Dec 13) Mr Currie’s February-born shearling ewe, Beautry Tania, is a daughter of his top-performing ram, Rathbone Leader, who has been responsible for multiple show champions, including a number at Skipton. He has sired shearling rams to 9,000gns, shearling ewes to 4,500gns and ram lambs to 3,000gns.

Procters Farm lands another Skipton Texel title win Procters Farm in Slaidburn continued to dominate the 2014 Texel sheep show arena at Skipton Auction Mart when exhibiting the supreme champion at the 22nd annual Northern Area Texel Sheep Breeders’ winter show and sale of pedigree in-lamb females. PEDIGREE CHAROLLAIS SHEEP - SATURDAY 11TH OCTOBER

Forward: 90 head of Pedigree Charollais Females CCM Auctions conducted the 10th Anniversary Sale of Charollais females held under the auspices of The British Charollais Sheep Society. John & Richard Geldard of Low Foulshaw, Gilpin Bridge claimed Championship & Reserve Champion honours with 2 gimmer shearlings from their long established Wraycastle Flock. The champion (Lot 54) sired by Parkgate Jack and scanned twins to Galtres Never Say Never Again, which was a 2500gns purchase at the Worcester Premier Sale this year, It sold for 720gns to Messrs Beaumont of Longridge, Preston. Messrs Geldard also presented the Reserve Champion with the same sire and service details, this time for the top price in sale of 950gns to Messrs Tindall of Linton Springs, Wetherby.
