DAIRY CATTLE PRESS - MONDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2016

Crisp new calvers double tops at Craven Dairy Auction Malhamdale’s Robert Crisp, of Nelson Farm, Calton, bagged a championship and reserve championship double at Skipton Auction Mart’s opening September Craven Dairy Auction. (Mon, Sept 12) Show judge Frank Wrathall, of Gisburn, awarded principal honours to Mr Crisp’s first and second prize newly calven commercial heifers, both by a son of the renowned Genus dairy bull, Picston Shottle, and both out of daughters of another Genus sire, Garrison, who has been used to good effect by the Dales dairy farmer over the years.

MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 26th FEBRUARY 2014 CCM Auctions held their final fortnightly Wednesday Sale of Store Lambs for the 2013-2014 season at Skipton this week. A very good entry for the time of year was assembled before the usual ringside of customers and a fast selling trade ensued, although not just as dear as the previous sale. MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 6TH NOVEMBER 2013 PRESS Red Rose raiders in Skipton prime time coups Red Rose farmers successfully mounted another cross-border raid to pillage the championship spoils at Skipton Auction Mart’s November prime shows. (Mon, Nov 4) Father and son Richard and Mark Ireland, from Whalley, sent out the prime lamb champions, while Jimmy Baines, who farms in both Trawden and Clitheroe, was responsible for yet another prime cattle title winner. Both victors fell to Keelham Farm Shop in Thornton, Bradford.

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 6TH NOVERMBER 2013 STORE CATTLE FORWARD: 508 HEAD OF CATTLE Comprising: 125 Young Feeding Bulls, 245 Bullocks & Heifers, 39 Breeding Cattle, 99 Pedigree Cattle The fortnightly sale pulled another good entry of over 500 head even though we are now in November, and on top of this there are another 125 Stirks and weaned calves entered for the Monthly sale this Saturday at 10am.

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2013 Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs Forward: 5,672 Head, Overall av £58.64 The fortnightly Store Sheep sale produced the sale of the Autumn so far with all classes trading at higher levels than the previous sale, and notably significantly improved from the corresponding time last year. With grass keep coming available a packed ringside assembled to compete for lambs, which were a good selection offering something for all from strong short keep lambs to smaller wintering types.
