STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 8TH JUNE 2016

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 544 head of cattle Comprising: 161 Young Feeding Bulls, 9 Grazing Cows, 305 Bullocks & Heifers & 69 Breeding Cattle. CCM Auctions conducted their fortnightly sale of Store & Breeding Cattle at Skipton Mart on Wednesday. A good show of Young Bulls sold to a fast trade, strong sorts were keenly contested and younger bulls found a nice following as well with regular customers looking to top sheds up.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 25TH MAY 2016

Forward: 682 head of cattle Comprising: 122 Young Feeding Bulls, 480 Bullocks & Heifers, 5 Feeding Cows , 57 Breeding Cattle & 19 Pedigree Cattle. A good entry of cattle with all classes a sharp trade. Bulls were again dearer on the last sale, strong sorts receiving a good following. In the Store section there were a few new faces ringside to bid at a show of nearly 500 head, like the bulls, any strong short keep cattle were keenly sought. Yearling bullocks continued their recent good run of form with best end into four figures. More yearling heifers about, smart end a nice trade but some younger plainer sorts were just similar prices to the previous sale. More commercial beef breeding cattle about, and the next two sales will include some Annual consignments, keep an eye on the catalogues. (Pedigree report further down the page)

Bellas Beef Shorthorn bull makes history at Skipton A home-bred pedigree Beef Shorthorn bull from Cumbria made history when becoming the first-ever champion at a brand-new pedigree native cattle show and sale staged at Skipton Auction Mart. (Wed, May 4) It came from the Croftends herd of Jonty Bellas, based at the farm of the same name at Appleby-in-Westmoreland. His two-year-old Croftends Harry first won its show class, before progressing to becoming first male, then overall champion at the inaugural fixture.

Short keep cattle caught the attention and were easier to sell than of late.

CCM Auctions Conducted their Monthly Sale of Stirks, Weaned Calves and Young Store Cattle A good entry forward with a packed ringside of buyers with no less than 30 separate accounts represented. Good straight cattle were good to sell with the poorer sorts of cattle less money and a touch harder to place.

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 481 head of cattle Comprising: 133 Young Feeding Bulls, 329 Bullocks & Heifers, 1 Feeding Cows & 18 Breeding Cattle. CCM Auctions held their fortnightly cattle sale at Skipton on Wednesday where 481 head were forward for sale. Short keep cattle held their value well in the face of reduced prime returns, the quality younger cattle were a sharp trade whilst additional buyers were at the ringside looking for summer grazing cattle.

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 654 head of cattle Comprising: 258 Young Feeding Bulls, 385 Bullocks & Heifers, 2 Feeding Cows & 9 Breeding Cattle. In the young Bull section, A pre lambing time sale caused a reduction in size and quality as housing is cleared. However trade for assured 9 to 11 month old continental bulls aimed to carry the appropriate amount of cover when finished continue to sell well. There was a more mixed show of stores but they were a decent trade with strong cattle maintaining prices from previous sales. Younger cattle made up a larger proportion of the sale and seasonal grazing buyers are beginning to come out looking for cattle before turnout, with young bullocks looking especially good to sell at stages in the sale.

FEEDING BULL SHOW PRESS - WEDNESDAY 16TH MARCH 2016

Repeat successes at Skipton Spring young bull showcase Sires with previous winning form at Skipton were again on the mark when responsible for both red rosette performers at the mart’s annual Spring show and sale of young feeding bulls, where all prize winners were by British Blue bulls – and all but one of them fell to York farmer and butcher Anthony Swales. (Wed, March 16)
