STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 13TH MAY 2015

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 751 head of cattle Comprising: 191 Young Feeding Bulls, 476 Bullocks & Heifers, 8 Breeding Cattle & 76 Pedigree Limousins Another fantastic entry of 667 Store Cattle & Young Bulls were forward for sale today and numbers show no sign of easing off yet, and this continues to draw a large crowd of buyers to each sale from across the North, Midlands and Eastern Counties.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 29TH APRIL 2015

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 835 head of cattle Comprising: 203 Young Feeding Bulls, 608 Bullocks & Heifers, 7 Feeding Cows, 8 Pedigree Cattle & 9 Breeding Cattle. Today’s sale capped a great week for store cattle numbers at Skipton with nearly 1100 head traded between Saturday’s Monthly Stirk Sale and today’s regular fortnightly Wednesday sale. A wonderful show of both short keep and grazing cattle attracted a packed ringside of customers. With one eye on the prime trade some customers were understandably cautious before the sale, but generally trade would be stronger than most anticipated. Grazing Bullocks and heifers were the trade of the day, with buyers keen to secure cattle from such a large show and whilst they were there in front of them.

Forward – 240 head cattle: 56 Bulls, 112 Steers, 57 Heifers & 15 Breeding Cattle & 244 Breeding & Store Sheep and Goats. Today we held a special additional sale of Sheep with Lambs at foot in conjunction with the Monthly Sale of Stirks and weaned calves.

Walkers walk on with another Skipton store cattle champion The Walker family, from Brennand Farm in Dunsop Bridge, continued its domination of the store cattle show arena at Skipton Auction Mart when presenting yet another champion. Jeff Walker led out the title winner at the annual Spring store cattle with show potential fixture, the first prize British Blue heifer, a pure home-bred by the Walkers’ main stock bull Cromwell Fendt.

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 476 head of cattle Comprising: 129 Young Feeding Bulls, 337 Bullocks & Heifers & 10 Breeding Cattle. Trade every bit as good as the previous sale, and grazing cattle finding a keen enquiry. Yearling bullocks once again in very strong demand.

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 439 head of cattle Comprising: 112 Young Feeding Bulls, 325 Bullocks & Heifers & 2 Breeding Cattle. A good lambing time entry of cattle were easily cleared to the usual good crowd of buyers who were bolstered by several seasonal buyers at the ringside looking to put together cattle for summering. Trade was better than anticipated, with yearling bullocks again in particular strong demand.

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 549 head of cattle Comprising: 214 Young Feeding Bulls, 323 Bullocks & Heifers, 4 Feeding Cows & 8 Breeding Cows A great show of cattle for lambing time, with 700 store cattle sold between the Saturday and Wednesday sales this last week. Trade was fairly good as well, especially for stores where prices were every bit as strong as recent sales.

Familiar faces to the fore at Skipton Spring young bull showcase Two prolific prize winners in the show cattle arena at Skipton Auction Mart were again to the fore when landing the class-winning red rosettes at the mart’s annual Spring show and sale of young feeding bulls. (Wed, March 18) Yorkshire Dales farmers John and Gill Huck, and their son James, of Church Farm, Hubberholme, were responsible for the first prize ten-months or under bull, a home-bred British Blue-cross by their main stock bull, the Irish-bred Droit Dexter, out of a three-quarters Blue cow.

LIVESTOCK - SATURDAY 14TH MARCH 2015

Forward – 150 head Cattle - comp: 70 Steers, 37 Heifers, 31 Bulls and 12 Breeding cattle; 14 Goats; Another busy Monthly Livestock Sale at Skipton as the Stirk and Weaned calf section goes from strength to strength. Plenty of interest in all classes of cattle with 45 separate vendors and purchasers successful on the day.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 4TH MARCH 2015

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 599 head of cattle (Comprising: 255 Young Feeding Bulls, 324 Bullocks & Heifers, 2 Feeding Cows & 18 Breeding Cattle) A mixed entry of feeding bulls as vendors clear sheds for lambing time which gave a high percentage of hard long keep types forward. Continental x young bulls met the usual ready trade selling to an increased number of buyers but plenty of choice at the lower end enabled buyers to be more selective. In the Store Cattle section there were some nice runs of strong sorts which sold away well. Plenty of interest in yearling cattle and younger sorts with buyers now appearing at the ring side looking to start to put together summering cattle, with Ted Walker of Barden selling 12 month Charolais Bullocks to £1295.

MARKET REPORT - WENESDAY 4th FEBRUARY - STORE & BREEDING CATTLE

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 861 head of cattle - Comprising: 287 Young Feeding Bulls, 555 Bullocks & Heifers, 1 Feeding Cow, 18 Breeding Cattle. At CCM Auctions fortnightly cattle sale there was another tremendous entry of quality cattle, 842 head were sold in the store ring with nearly 300 head of suckler bred young bulls and 555 strong store cattle together with a nice selection of yearling stores in the entry. The averages show the quality on offer, but of note were several pens, especially in the pens of 3 or more heifers, which saw John Brewer sell a pen of 4 Limousin Heifers at £1500 each and The Mason family of Appletreewick bring their annual consignment of heifers which sold to £1350 for a pen of 6 Charolais cross. At the younger end Seth Blakey of Bolton by Bowland sold a lovely pen of 5 Charolais cross bullocks 10 months old for £1020 per head. The 555 Bullocks & Heifers on offer averaged £1022.33, mixed in here were 187 Limousin Heifers that averaged £1047.59, 56 Charolais Heifers at £1076.79 and 93 Limousin Bullocks average £1122.85.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 21ST JANUARY 2015

Forward: 512 head of cattle Comprising: 190 Young Feeding Bulls, 318 Bullocks & Heifers & 4 Breeding Cattle At CCM Auctions fortnightly cattle sale held on Wednesday at Skipton Mart there was a nice entry of 512 head. The sale included a special show of young feeding bulls, with judging undertaken by Mr Keith Bowes of York. There were some great bulls put before the judge and the awards were as shown below. The quality on offer was evident with British Blues averaging £1027.
