MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 2nd APRIL 2014

Forward: 454 head of cattle Comprising: 146 Young Feeding Bulls, 306 Bullocks & Heifers, 2 Breeding Cattle. CCM Auctions conducted their fortnightly sale of cattle at Skipton Mart on Wednesday. Numbers were still good but the quality was rather more mixed than of late, whilst prices were largely unchanged from the previous sale. Good strong cattle were every bit as dear as recently with several runs of 18-20mo cattle receiving plenty of interest from the ringside. Younger cattle were varied in quality, some bullocks and commercial heifers looking better value than of late.

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 19th MARCH 2014 Forward: 504 head of cattle Comprising: 247 Young Feeding Bulls, 250 Bullocks & Heifers, 7 Breeding Cattle A nice show of cattle for early lambing time, and trade was like the weather, had a nice spring to it. Bulls were a firmer trade than the previous sale with some quality dorts presented for the prize show where judging was kindly indertaken by Mr Stephen Eastwood of Emley, Huddersfield. The store bullocks and heifers were well bid for, with buyers keen to buy summering cattle with one eye already on turnout.

CCM Auctions had 581 head of cattle forward for their fortnightly sale at Skipton on Wednesday. Trade for bulls was slightly harder going than the previous sale although the overall quality would also not be as good. In the Store section, cattle were generally a shade younger, but some quality annual consignments of yearling heifers from Messrs Keighley, Leathley and Messrs Taylor, Cumberworth created considerable interest at the ringside and sold well. Grazing cattle of all types were also in strong demand, defying the thoughts that these would be cheaper

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 19TH FEBRUARY 2014 PRESS Craven Champions Day, Skipton Auction Mart’s annual show and sale of commercial store cattle with future show potential, proved one of the best on record, attracting an increased entry of 65 up-and-coming bullocks and heifers, with all prize winners achieving four-figure selling prices at an overall average of £1,406.81 per head, a marked improvement on the previous year’s £1,240.

Generally Young bulls could not maintain the fearsome trade seen the fortnight before, Best bulls were marginally cheaper, with 2nd and 3rd draw bulls definitely cheaper than the previous sale.

Barden farming brothers Stephen and John Fawcett won the two show classes for young bulls at Skipton Auction Mart’s fortnightly Wednesday cattle sale, which attracted a turnout of 732 head.

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 8TH JANUARY 2014 Forward: 1095 head of cattle Comprising: 408 Young Feeding Bulls, 680 Bullocks & Heifers, 7 Breeding Cattle A great show of cattle at Skipton to start the new year, with 150 head more sold than in 2013 and surprisingly the overall average up by £15 per head on the year. The bulls were good to sell with clients cramming the ringside, whilst as the end of the day, the ringside was still 2 or 3 deep with customers ensuring a good level right to the end. It was a mammoth sale but the last pen was sold at 5.37pm.

MARKET REPORT - WEDNESDAY 8TH JANAURY 2014 PRESS A mammoth entry of 1,095 head of cattle produced a bovine bounty not seen since the late 1990s at Skipton Auction Mart’s opening Great New Year cattle sale, with the beef ring packed to the gunnels all day long from the first sale at 9.30am right through until the final hammer fell at 5.37pm.
