Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 382 head of cattle Comprising: 86 Young Feeding Bulls, 21 Beef Feeding Cows, 269 Bullocks & Heifers, & 6 Breeding Cattle. 79 Bulls of the 86 forward under 12 months of age and the strength and quality of the 2016 spring born calves improving every sale. Top price of the January born bulls was a Limousin x from JA&JM Wade & Son, Cononley. James Huck of Austwick sold his first draws 4 continental cross bulls born January to March 2016 to average £1143. Smaller bulls £720 to £970 throughout the sale. Overall aver of the under 12 month bulls was £933.

SKIPTON AUCTION MART MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 25th OCTOBER 2017 Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 368 head of cattle Comprising: 101 Young Feeding Bulls, 27 Beef Feeding Cows, 222 Bullocks & Heifers, & 18 Breeding Cattle. A high percentage of 2017 born bull calves in today’s sale. Stronger 2017 suckled bulls got away well with the remnants of the 2016 crop to buyers looking for cattle to go straight to feed. An average of £783.50 for bulls under 12months is slightly deceptive as most of these were born June 2017 onwards, these young types finding a ready audience at £500-£650. Stronger bulls saw some high prices as noted below. Feeding cows were a very seasonal entry of leaner types, but trade was good for all classes with an overall average of £709, topping at £1,250. Store Cattle saw all extremes penned for sale, anything a bit smarter and in forward condition sold away quickly with customers keen, stronger and older types were a decent trade, and smart end of young cattle were better to sell, but anything a bit plainer was a similar trade.

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle. Forward: 671 head of cattle Comprising: 61 Young Feeding Bulls, 21 Beef Feeding Cows, 578 Bullocks & Heifers, & 11 Breeding Cattle. A large entry of cattle and a large crowd of buyers ensured a fast selling trade and plenty of demand, especially for the good stuff. Strong forward cattle £1,150 to £1,350. Some good yearling bullocks £1,050-£1,150, whilst more commercial types of cattle continued a similar trade to the previous sale. Feeding cows a sharp trade with an increased entry as Autumn approaches and topping at over £1300.

Forward: 731 head of cattle Comprising: 87 Young Feeding Bulls, 16 Beef Feeding Cows, 621 Bullocks & Heifers, & 7 Breeding Cattle. Feeding Bulls – The first real show of 2017 born cattle in the feeding bull section and trade was good. TH Mellin with a pen of sweet February born Limousin crosses out of Blue x Cows averaged £895 with a top of £990. SJ&RK Handy sold January born Limousin crosses to £990 and A Twell with March born British Blue crosses to £980. Under 12 months old bulls averaged £916.77.

CCM Skipton cements impact in cattle sales arena High health status herds now key to both vendors and buyers Skipton Auction Mart continues to cement its growing impact as a centre of excellence for cattle sales, with a successful 2017 pedigree beef season under its belt and strong fortnightly Wednesday sales being seen across the summer months.

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 659 head of cattle Comprising: 121 Young Feeding Bulls, 18 Beef Feeding Cows, 369 Bullocks & Heifers, & 151 Breeding Cattle. A great sale for June with 659 head of cattle sold. Young Bulls were first to sell and were easily sold to a large contingent of buyers, the stronger sorts were £1100 plus, and an overall average of £1037 showed the strength of the trade. A lighter show of cows topped at £1180 for a nice Limousin from Jonathan Townley of Clapham, closely followed at £1100 for a Charolais x from D Pawson, Billinge.

Heady turnout of 659 at Skipton cattle highlight Cattle numbers passing through Skipton Auction Mart show no signs of letting up and the latest fortnightly Wednesday sale attracted a very high turnout for the time of year with 659 head forward and all successfully sold. (June 21) The fixture incorporated a well-supported sale of 151 beef breeding cattle, including significant standalone consignments of cows with calves at foot, which were eagerly sought by returning buyers.

Cattle to suit all preferences from suckler bred to out laid dairy and beef crosses and a number of beef breeding families which topped at £1500 for RJ Scholefield of Wainstalls for an Aberdeen Angus cow with a Blonde x steer calf.
