GIMMER & STORE LAMB PRESS - WEDNESDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER 2021

Young ladies in high demand as over 5,000 lambs sold at Skipton A bumper turnout of 10,586 head packed the sheep pens at Skipton Auction Mart’s latest fortnightly Wednesday sale, when 5,139 gimmer lambs sold for an overall average of £106.05 per head and 5,363 store lambs at £80.42.

BELTEX SHEEP SOCIETY ANNUAL SHOW & SALE OF PEDIGREE RAMS AND FEMALES Skipton Mart was host to The Beltex Sheep Society when the Northern Club held their Annual Show & Sale with a catalogue entry of 436 head. Rams of all classes were a very good trade, seeing averages looking well on the year with shearlings for both commercial and pedigree in high demand to level at £932 for shearling rams and £861 for ram lambs.

ANNUAL SHOW & SALE OF JACOB SHEEP At the 46th Annual Show of Pedigree Jacob Sheep saw top price at 1400gns, the Overall Supreme Champion a Thornley Vulcan sired Shearling Gimmer bred from a Mealthop Dun Boy bred ewe exhibited by Howard Walsh. Top ewe lamb was a January twin sold by M Munros Kinloch Flock which made 740gns.
