POULTRY PRESS - SATURDAY 12TH JUNE 2021

Procters rule roost as poultry fixtures make welcome return at Skipton Birds of a feather flocked back to Skipton Auction Mart with a welcome return on Saturday, June 12, of the first live Craven Premier Poultry show and sale since March last year, with 229 lots of bantams, large fowl and waterfowl on offer. Quality cages of pullets and trios sold away to a nice trade, with bantams also following suit. Smaller ducks were a very mixed trade, while geese were good to sell, as were a few pens of hens with young chicks and several lots of young Warren pullets, 20 of which sold for £50.

POULTRY - SATURDAY 12TH JUNE 2021

POULTRY & WATERFOWL It was nice to get back to work selling Poultry via live auction. Quality cages of Pullets and Trio’s sold away to a nice trade, bantams also following suit. Smaller ducks were a very mixed trade, geese good to sell, as were a few pens of hens with young chicks and several lots of young Warren Pullets.

LIVESTOCK SALE - SATURDAY 12TH JUNE 2021

CCM Auctions Conducted their Monthly Sale of Stirks, Weaned Calves and Young Store Cattle STORE CATTLE: Trade was a flyer for the stirks on offer today with regular and new vendors achieving a solid trade right through. 5-7 month old blue heifers £600-£720 26 Black and white steers in the entry with an average of £496. 10 month turning outs sorts £595 with some 7 months selling at £540. Majority selling £320-£380 for 6-month-old goods.

Big day for commercial breeding sheep at CCM Skipton A Bank Holiday sheep day bonanza at Skipton Auction Mart, on Monday, incorporated 556 head of commercial breeding sheep, with annual show classes for single sheep with lambs. The Ribble Valley’s Ian and Mary Lancaster, and their son Richard, of Coldcotes Farm, Wiswell, produced runs of Beltex sheep with lambs at foot that sold to a top of £650 for a pure-bred black 3-crop ewe by a ram acquired from fellow Red Rose breeder Andrew John Wood, who runs the Withy Trees Beltex flock near Preston.
