ANNUAL SALE OF REGISTERED DALESBRED SHEEP
Winners of the Royston Baxter trophy presented by former Mart Foreman and Farmer Royston Baxter, were Stuart and Ed Hird of Yockenthwaite with a 2 Shear tup by a Richard Close and from a Huddleston/Longton ewe, which sold for 350gns to FW Horner of Buckden.
Leading price came from J&JT Kelsall of Cold Cotes, a shearling ram which was by a Catlow tup bred from a Fieldhead ewe which joined John Harrison of Blubberhouses for 550gns.
The sale saw a total clearance of all sheep with females good to sell and gimmer lambs a particularly strong trade.
Royston Baxter donated 3 sticks he had made, with proceeds for Manorlands Hospice, Oxenhope.
Stick 1, A thumb stick sold for £200 to Martin Brown, Woodale, Lofthouse.
Stick 2, A walking stick sold for £180 to Trevor Stoney, Bewerley, Pateley Bridge
Stock 3, Royston’s own Market Stick sold for £800 to Craven Cattle Marts for use as a sale ring stick.
