The third sale of gimmer lambs followed the trend of the autumn so far with trade for Masham and Mule gimmer lambs still taking a nice rise over the corresponding sale last year.
Masham’s sold well with stronger end £120 to £130 and the first prize pen from CT&JE Willoughby making £135. Messrs Willoughby sold a single lamb which was a strong quality sort and sold for £330.

Mule Lambs were a nice entry, better pens on the day £125 to £140, nice and dark headed sorts £108 to £120, and smaller runners in the £90’s to £105. J&G Huck’s 1st prize pen made £135, Robert & Ellie Crisp made £142 of the 2nd prize pen, whilst a single lamb from CD&RF Kitching made £148.

Swaledale Gimmer Lambs attracted a good ringside of customers keen to secure the nice skinned well bred sorts. Tops on the day belonged to the 1st prize pen from John & Rose Tennant of Bordley selling at £230 per head. Next at £190 was Rob Tennant of Coniston with Kilnsey, and Kevin Huck of Bordley at £160. The overall average was £83, a slight increase on the year, which was very acceptable given that lambs have generally come in from the fell a shade smaller this autumn.
