Another good quality entry, the majority Continental steers which averaged 619kg and 287.02p/kg. Continental heifers averaged 576kg and 290.77p/kg with a black and white and a Hereford heifer reducing the combined average to 256.72p/kg. Ralph Pearson Wholesale Butchers from Bradford were amongst the top gross prices purchasing the best steer a Limousin, 635kg at £1857 or 292.5p/kg from F&B Smith of Masongill and the leading heifer a British Blue cross 645kg at £1841 or 285.5p/kg from Threshfield beef finishers, CD&RF Kitching. Mesrs Pearson also secured the highest price per kg another Limousin cross steer weighing 585kg from Mesrs F&B Smith at 311.5p/kg or £1822. The top priced heifer was a 525kg Limousin cross consigned by Simon Bennet from Silsden Moor which sold at 300.5p/kg or £1608 to Robertshaws Farm Shop at Thornton. Entries are required for the Lingfields Christmas Show on Sunday 28th November at which there will be significant interest.

A good overall average today, with smart lambs dearer, commercial lowland lambs a shade easier, and the good heavies, Mules and Hill Lambs very similar.
Messrs JR Crabtree, Low Snowden, Otley took top price per head at £166 to A Atkinson, with others at £156.
Ellis Bros of Addingham Moorside were next in line making £165.50, C Middleton of Whalley made £164, P Johnson of Trawden made £162, and Anthony Thompson of Foulridge sold at £160. Another 76 pens in the £150s and £140s.
Per kilo prices topped by Ellis Bros at 359p, with many pens of smarter lambs 300p to 330p.
Commercial handyweights around 275p to 300p today, heavies making 250p to 280p, butchers types around 300p, Messrs KA&HL Fawcett & Son of Dalehead, Barden taking top kilo heavies with 50kg Continentals at 316p or £158.
Mule Wethers were a good trade, and sold to a fairly similar trade on the week, most nice sorts making 260p to 270p, a few best pens at 270p plus, including Mules from Bob Stubbs, Crowton, Northwich at 277.5p.
Nice Horned Wethers 240p to 250p, tops 251p or £112 from JA&JH Hewetson, Giggleswick.
625 ewes in total with a good solid trade, 2nd quality ewes just slighty easier on the week, but heavies and well fleshed full meat goods of all classes selling to the same trade. Some nice runs of inside fed ewes selling to high demand.
White headed ewes sold to £179.50 from MS Robinson, Harrogate. Best ewes £145-£179.50, heavy first well-bred ewes £130-£140, heavy crossed ewes £120+ and medium first cross ewes £95-£115. Leans in the £78-£90.
Mules sold to £116.50 from R Spencer & Sons, Rotherham. Heavy mules £108-£116.50, medium full meat goods £96-£105 and lean mediums £75-£87 with plains in the £45-£65 range.
