Store Lambs 5,425 Overall av £84.68

Store Lambs a flyer today with lowland lambs regularly £5-£8 dearer over the previous sale, with over 60 active accounts operating in the store lamb ring. Generally, a lesser show of lambs forward with more hill breeds in the entry and increased numbers of wintering types.
Another good entry of Mules that avg £81. Large end £84-£94, mediums £78-£83 and smalls in the £60’s with only a few pens making less. Horned lambs £48-£59 for mediums with larger end on the day seeing 7 lots of Dales and Swales making £60-£72.50. a few pens of smalls in the £40’s. A couple of large pens of Scotch Blackies made £68 and £66.
Smart end Beltex lambs were an absolute flyer. Frankland Farms from Rathmell sold 8 pens from £150-£180. Mediums were £110-£128 and small long keep sorts were £80-£100. Beltex averaged £112.
Commercial White faced lambs were £90+ for large framed lambs with less about and farmers generally brining smaller goods in as we get later into the season. Large end lowland lambs with meat £100-£126. Top price of £128 from Healaugh Farm Partnership. Mediums £85-£98 and small bonny lambs mid £70’s to mid £80s with a few pens less money. Tex-dales regular mid £70’s-£80 with some smalls in the £60’s.
Feeding Ewes a tidy trade, strong horned ewes £60 to £80, plainer sorts in the £20’s £30s and £40s. Decent white faced ewes top side of £100.
With prime trade still strong, the demand for feeding sheep is good and vendors are encouraged to get lambs and feeding ewes entered up for the next sale in two weeks time.

Today we also held our November Fair Sale of Rams, Ewes and Gimmer Lambs with just over 50 head presented. Rams were keenly contested with a ringside of buyers needing replacement or extra tups and the better Continentals on the day were 300gns to 500gns, Blue Leiceisters in the 300’s and a single Swaledale made 420gns.
Mule Gimmer Lambs were in very good demand today for our 5th sale, and many more could have been sold with a top of £126 from JK Wilson, and levelling at an excellent £97 (+£15 on the year)
