The Horrell Family from Peterborough made the long trip to the Autumn Sale with 5 entries in from their well respected Podehole herd. Top price of the day was 11,000gns a joint record for the centre, achieved by Podehole Rothes Phoebe a March 2020 daughter of Knockenjig Hercules bred from Podehole Rothes Kitty, a Podehole Fandango daughter. The heifer sold free of the bull was purchased by AC Farms.
Judge Carey Coombs (Dunsyre) also found his reserve champion in the Podehole pen, in Podehole Rita Philomena an April 2020 Red and Little White daughter of Podehole Rock Legend bred from another Hercules daughter, this time Podehole Rita Liberty with the maiden heifer making 7400gn.
The Supreme Champion came from another high quality pen this time from D&T Bradley Farmer of Parkgate, Dumfries when the May 2020 born Meonside Desiree Penelope was awarded the top rosette. Sired by Caramba Kinvara out of the Knockenjig Foremost sired Coldrochie Desiree making 5200gns to an Irish internet bidder.
Messrs Bradley Farmer also sold Meonside Shamrock Pocahontas, born in May 2020 by Meonside King Kong bred from Caramba Lovely Lovely a very well bred cow. Sold empty the heifer sold to an internet bidder from Ireland for 5000gns.
With buyers keen to buy cattle incalf the heifers in this section peaked at 5000gns for P. Turnbulls, Oakleigh herd which sold Oakleigh Natasha a 2019 heifer by Castlemount Ross bred from the Blelack Masterpiece bred cow Oakleigh Gorgeous for 5000gns. The Hon. Gerald Turtons Upsall herd was back at the sale with Jilt X1437, a 2019 Firefox of Upsall daughter bred form the Dingo of Upsall, Jilt x1059 which backed by a good set of maternal trait EBVs sold for 4700gns to M Robinson of Kendal.


The Champion male was Loxley Pedroe a 2020 bull by Meonhill Jetstream sold by Roger Hebden of Bassett Hall for 1900gns to RM&J Johnson of Pengwern.

Aberdeen Angus
The Autumn Angus Female Sale at Skipton had another excellent clearance rate for an entry that was mainly made up of young cows coming with their 2nd to 4th calves.
Leading price from the collective entry belonged to TA&P Johnson, Yearsley, at 2600gns for a Rawburn Elysium daughter incalf to Black Hawk. The same vendor made 2400gns of Copperidge Lady Ruth S061, out of Wall Lady Ruth by Cardona Potter it was sold incalf to McCormick Pathfinder.
Messrs Walsh from the Buckhurst herd topped their run at 2600gns for Buckhurst Elluma, by Blelack Entertainer out of a Lady Croft Bold Lad Dam it sold carrying its second calf to Rolex for March.
The Airedale Draft Sale was full of quality, and it was Airedale Kitt U552 that took the first joint lead price of 4000gns on the day. By Airedale Lord Perseus out of The Moss Kitt, this excellent young cow sold due it third calving to Airedale Rockonboy.
The second at 4000gns was from the Kinannie family, Airedale Kinannie T541 carrying its 2nd calf to Weeton Black Battleship.
Within the Airedale sale was the March 2019 born young bull Airedale Mr Essential, a stylish grandson of Weeton Lord Horatio that sold for 3700gns.
Messrs Isherwood had 4 further 3000gns plus sales in their run of 21 included within the sale.

British Blue

At the Special sale of Pedigree British Blue Cattle which featured the annual draft from the Greystone herd, property of Messrs Coates of Rainscar, Stainforth, Settle, top call in the females was 4000gns twice. The first occasion was for Greystone Purdey a yearling heifer by Farouk de st Amand bred from one of the herds biggest cows in Greystone Kansas, a daughter of Almeley Ginola which sold to J Cardwell of Askern. The second 4000gn sale was for Greystone Pringle a daughter of the easy calving Pendle Bruce bred from Greystone Herpine, a Ringmaster daughter which joined Joe Crust’s Betterbred Herd. The Greystone herd average was £3692.

Ian Wainwright of Cupar in Fife produced a pen of very mobile British Blue bulls, which had lived out and looked ready for work with his best the 2019 Todhall Otter a Bringlee Carlos grandson bred from Todhall Heather, a Colos Van Daisel daughter which returned to Scotland when heading to Turiff to a long standing customer of the Company in Bill Stephens for 5000gns. Another bull, Todhall Olympus also by Sheehills Inspiration sold locally for 3700gns.
