Feeding Bulls – a few vendors taking advantage of a very strong trade for good batches of bulls to finish in spec. Under 12 months bulls averaged £1206 with bulls of the entry October and November born. Top end £1270 to £1420. Plenty of trade for bulls 12 months and over with heavy continental £1500 to £1620.

Feeding Cows – trade good if a shade easier. Beef continental cows £1500 to £1580. First cross beef cows at the heavier end and in forward condition £1200- £1350. Lean first cross cows £800-£1100.

Stores – Store cattle up a gear today with good smart retail heifers a lump dearer and 10–14-month-old bullocks seeing an increase in trade. Lim steers and heifers sold to a range of purchasers. Top price for a Lim steer came from Fair Place Farm, Cowling reaching £1625. J Lord, Shore sold 15-month-old Lim steers to £1520, £1440. Good U Grade steers at feeding age £1100-£1250 and 8 reaching £1300+. Younger Lim steers to grow on could be purchased £980-£1080. Lim heifers same again retail end very well sold with some plainer/ softer end selling similar to last sale. Plenty of U Grade ehifers again £1250-£1350 for good ended and thick loin animals. Lim heifers sold to a top price of £1480 from JE Cowperthwaite, Eldroth. Plainer/ softer Lim heifers at feeding age £980-£1100. Young smart goods £1050-£1200. R grade blue bullocks sold similar to last sale along with blue heifers. Blues topped at £1510 from DT&LA Houseman & Sons, Harrogate. 18-22 month old feeding blue bullocks £1080-£1180 with well-fed goods with size and frame £1200+ whilst plainer end of feeder sold £980-£1060. Blue heifers sold to £1340 for a good retail end beast from J Lord, Shore. R grade goods £140-£1280 for big framed goods with flesh. Leaner end £1040-£1100 and Plainer end £940-£1020. Natives sold same as recently with prices still very desirable. Angus steers sold to £1570 for a large well fed animal from J Lord, Shore. Angus steers from other vendors sold at £1000-£1060 for feeders and £1200 for large framed and fleshed feeders. Younger end 12-15 month old £900-£1000. Angus heifers a nice trade with little size about today. Youngster sold at £780-£850 and medium/ larger feeders £880-£1000.
