Feeding Bulls – Buyers continue to try and replace bulls which are traditionally direct from finishing pens at this time of year, as prime bulls move to slaughter to meet the age specification. A very good trade ensured average £1133 with strong continental bulls regularly £1500 and upwards. Smart continental bulls January born were £1000 and grazed native bred bulls £860 - £1030.

Feeding Cows – Feeding cows generally a little easier but a good continental cow was always £1250 and upwards with the top £1440 a Lim from Birkby Farms. A mixed show of first cross continentals with heavy meated cows £1200 and leaner cows £800 - £950. 2 year old cast bulls were to £1650 for an Aberdeen Angus from G Edwards.

Stores – Good solid trade throughout with medium short grown soft heifers a little harder to place. Short term cattle and nice makers a storming trade. 22 Black and White bullocks sold today with an overall avg of £890. Lean feeding goods £885-£965. Larger feeding goods still lean but more range £980-£1060. Native cattle very easy to sell with rings full of Shorthorn, Angus and Hereford bullocks and heifers sold today. Shorthorn x bullocks sold to £1180 from R Naylor, & Sons Ilkley. Angus steers sold to £1310 for 2 good ended beasts with size and flesh from TM Harrison, Threshfield. Plenty of medium feeders £1100-£1200 with some plainer end £1040-£1100. Angus heifers sold to £1210 again from TM Harrison, Threshfield. Good meat heifers good to sell but size wanted overall. Plenty of blue bullocks and heifers on show. Vendors seeing prices reach regular heights. E&MA Burrow & Son, Lancaster sold blue bullocks to £1480 with DT&LA Houseman, Harrogate selling blue bullocks to £1440. Big feeding bullocks with size and weight £1300-£1480. Leaner big bullocks with weight £1200-£1300. Lean regular feeding bullocks £1080-£1150. Big fed heifers with weight £1230-£1325. More feeding goods or slightly smaller £1120-£1200 and then leaner end £1020-£1080. Lim bullocks and heifers both met a good range of buyers with grazing cattle a little easier but good making sorts and feeding cattle a flying trade. Top price of £1460 from TH&K Wood, Harrogate. Feeding goods £1160-£1250. Smaller softer end of yearling to 14 month £950-£1050 with some grazing heifers buyable in the £780-£880. Grazing bullocks regularly £880-£1040.
