Young Feeding Bulls
A mixed selection of bulls and generally a shortage of strength when compared to recent weeks. Top of the shop was RS Harker & Son Grayrigg Hall, Kendal with yearling Limousins to £1400. Messrs RG&H Preece of Roeburndale, Lancaster hit £1300 with a brace of yearling Limousins, whilst EW&JR Parkinson of Dunsop Bridge topped the blues at £1240.
The best end of November/December 2020 born calves £1050 to £1200, whilst a more commercial 8 to 11mo bull from £950 to £1100.

54 Feeding Cows/Stock Bulls/OTM Clean
The ¾ bred cows with a good cover of flesh were a nice trade and keenly contested. RS Harker & Son Grayrigg Hall topped the Cow section at £1440 with a Limousin, with others at £1430, £1300 £1240 and £1220 from the same home. E&AM Simpson & Son of Pateley Bridge sold at £1300 for Lim crosses, and two other vendors achieved £1220, JA&R Caton Otterburn with a Simm x and TM Harrison of Threshfield for an Angus, who also sold another at £1210. Other heavier twice crossed cows £1100 to £1200.
A half meat cow for medium keep was a straight trade, and the short to medium keep first cross cows sold well, but with housing around the corner the lighter plainer cows were harder work.
A couple of stock bulls in the entry seeing a useful 8 years old Limousin from DL Mudd of Buckden making £2000 and a Hereford 6 years old at £1320.


Stores
Store cattle very similar on the fortnight good ended and well fleshed beast meeting a fiery trade, whilst 15-18 month old feeding plainer heifers and bullocks of O and R grades selling reasonable with no increase in trade. Top price today came from W&A Lambert & Son, Horton in Ribblesdale with a Lim heifer selling to £1600. Plenty of 12–18-month-old Lim heifers selling at £1280-£1320 with GS&SI Bartlett, Preston selling several pens full from £1300-£1355. Younger Lim heifers with plenty of end selling at £1000-£1140. Plainer dairy bred end £900-£1000. Limousin Heifers averaged £1202.
Blue bullocks sold well with size and flesh bid for more keenly. Good ended fleshed sorts sold at £1260-£1350 with lesser framed ones £1100-£1180. Grazing bullocks £870-£950 with some plainer end selling less. Lim bullocks sold to £1550 from P&E Fox, Clitheroe. Plenty of feeding Sucklers £1200+ with size and power £1300-£1550. Plainer end Lim Bullocks £1060-£1160. Some suckler bred goods looking slightly to soft for some purchasers under the four figured mark. Blue heifers £1140-£1212 with some real big end £1310-£1390. Natives sold very well top price bullocks from MA&JR Sharpe, Paythorne selling at £1210. Size £1100+ Grazing end £865-£940 and feeders £1000-£1050. Angus heifers a good solid trade bit again buyer wanting them with flesh and not too plain. Top price of £1170 from GJ Edwards, Paddyham. Feeders £940-£1060 with the grazing end being able to be purchased from £745-£800.

Breeding Cattle
A small entry today, but a young Limousin stock bull from Thor Atkinson of Newlands, Ulverston sold at £2050, and a Hereford from Nigel Garth sold at £1680. A mixed selection of outfits covered prices from £700 to £1500.
