Breeding Sheep (514 Head)
Today’s entry was 514 head comprising 202 Sheep with 306 Lambs at foot and 6 Geld Hoggs.
Trade quite a bit sharper this week with additional customers looking for sheep late in the season and generally they were easy to sell. Hoggs and lambs have just seen the edge go off the trade, with things not just as sparky as earlier in the month. Next week is the special show and sale for single sheep with lambs at foot, classes for various lowland sheep and hill sheep, please let us have entries by 12noon on Friday for inclusion in the weekly online catalogue.

Spring Calf Show judge Joe Ogden faced a difficult task finding his class winners in an exceptionally strong British Blue section. He found his winner from Church Farm Enterprises a 31 day old British Blue cross bull calf which sold to CE Smith of Grimsby for £680. Mr Smith then added the reserve champion, another 31 day old British Blue cross bull calf to his pen from Ian Wellock of Kirkby Malham for £600.
Trade was very strong with 11 British Blue bull calves selling above £550 and 7 British Blue Heifers making £400 or more. Black and white bulls and Native breeds continued to sell well.
