In the bottom ring a healthy catalogue of native sired store cattle for the annual sale this morning with the sale total just breaking the 100 head mark. A show of predominantly grazing cattle found a very ready audience. A smattering of strong, short keep cattle sold away nicely with Millfield stud topping the day with their 1^st Prize Hereford Bullock selling to £1120. The grazing bullocks saw the best trade in the Aberedeen Angus and the Shorthorns with both breeds past the £800 on average topping with a cracking run of 10-12 mth old steers from R&A Wallbank,  Slaidburn who saw his run peak at £880 twice. A small show of store bulls were highlighted by some strong prices with Starfitts Contracting riding high with a brace of Hereford bulls at £1050.  

Heifers also sold well with JT Thornber of Sawley topping with a big Herford x heifer at £1030 with the majority of the cattle once again being yearlings.  Again it was Messrs Wallbank seeing the best of the trade with a brace at £740.  

Messrs Turnbull of Coxwold took top price honours at CCM’s Special Spring Sale of Native Pedigree Cattle with their only offering of the sale. A strong Angus Bull with a solid pedigree back to 20,000gn dam line, he sold for 3,400gns. The Champion on the day came from HJ Elliott, Cowshill, Bishop Auckland with their 14 months old Hereford Bull that went on the make 1900gns.
