RAMS - THURSDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER & FRIDAY 1st OCTOBER 2021

CCM Auctions held their their Annual Multi Breed Rams & Females Sale at Skipton Mart, which for just this year has been split over 2 days again. Forward: 815 head of Rams & Females. Thursday – 140 head. Friday – 675 head.

LLEYN REPORT - THURSDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER 2021

The Lleyn Sheep Society held their Annual Sale at Skipton on Thursday. The sale saw a good enquiry for ewe lambs and the middle runs of yearlings, however trade wasnt as good as last year for the better end. Ram had a decent enquiry for the good end of breeders sheep, but unlike the females, the more commercial end of rams were a slow trade. Messrs H&M Dugdale of Stackhouse, and Messrs G&A Fort of Steeton shared the spoils in the yearling prices when making £200 per head, whilst Messrs Fort topped the ewe lambs at £135. Messrs Dugdale peaked the ram section at 900gns.

CCM Skipton BFL highlight one of the best on record Skipton Auction Mart’s 2021 Bluefaced Leicester show and sale produced one the best turnouts in terms of quality ever seen at this annual fixture, notably in the ram lamb section, which averaged £704. 27, a solid increase on the previous year’s £437, while shearling rams averaged £893, again well up on 2020’s average of £513. In total, 27 sheep sold at four-figure prices and there was virtually total clearance of the 117 head on offer, with just a single sheep unsold.

BFL SHEEP - TUESDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER 2021

Forward: 117 BFL Rams & Females: A superb sale of Blue Faced Leicester’s this evening with one of the best shows of sheep ever seen at this sale, especially in the ram lamb section. Shearling Rams averaged £893, and Ram Lambs were £704, 27 sheep sold at 4 figure prices and there was a virtual total clearance with only 1 sheep unsold.

BREEDING SHEEP - TUESDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER 2021

1786 Forward: CCM Auctions fortnightly sale of breeding sheep, correct & broken mouthed. A good sale for breeding sheep today. Nice Mule Shearlings and young ewes £140 to £160, good older ewes £110 to £135. Decent correct below sheep £85 to £110. The Annual Sale of correct below Swaledale Ewes produced a good average of £65 and best strong pens at £90 to £110, JE Cowperthwaite Eldroth selling two pens at £110, JM&S Tennant £110 and £105 twice, and G&GJ Schofield Buckden also £105. This coming Saturday is the Draft Ewe sale and next Tuesday the Swaledale Gimmer Lamb Sale.

3,000-plus wether lambs take centre stage at CCM Skipton This season’s horned wether lambs had their main show and sale day of the year at Skipton Auction Mart when another large turnout of 8,723 store lambs included 2,100 Mule and Masham wethers, and 1,200 horned wethers, all trading to an overall selling average of £77.75 per head.

NEMSA gimmer lamb averages up again at 2nd CCM Skipton sale Another improved overall selling average of £118.12 per head, up £15.86 on the year, was achieved at Skipton Auction Mart’s second annual gimmer lamb show and sale on behalf of members of the North of England Mule Sheep Association (NEMSA), with the turnout of 6,567 head almost 400 up on 2020 and again producing solid prices for top-end pens, with runners also in high demand.
