CCM Auctions conducted their weekly Primestock sale at Skipton Mart on Monday together with the Monthly Prize Show of Prime Cattle & Sheep. Cattle championship honours this Month went to Mr Bernard Simpson of Heathfield, Pateley Bridge whose 1st Prize Heifer sold for £1,575 to Keelham Farmshop. In the Prime Sheep ring the championship ticket went to Paul Baines, whose pen of 5 Beltex crosses sold at £103 each to Hartshead Meat Company, Mossley.

Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store & Breeding Sheep Forward: 1,360 Head – 925 Store Hoggs; 411 Inlamb Sheep & 24 Blue Faced Leicesters. A good show of store sheep were good to sell with plenty of customers assembled. Another nice show of inlamb sheep saw strong older sheep in good demand.

Booths seal BFL females hat-trick at Skipton The North Craven-based Smearsett flock of WA & A Booth clinched its third successive championship at Skipton Auction Mart’s annual registered show and sale of Blue Faced Leicester females. Father and son David and Robin Booth, of Old Hall Cottage, Feizor, secured a memorable hat-trick with their first prize gimmer hogg, by one of their highly regarded stock tups, C1 Shafthill, acquired as a lamb from Northumberland breeder John Smith-Jackson, of Melkridge, near Haltwhistle.
